Turkish Bible (TURERV)
Overview
The Turkish Bible (TURERV) is a New Testament translation in Turkish, likely the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) produced by Bible League International (formerly the World Bible Translation Center). [1] The Easy-to-Read Version is designed to make Scripture accessible to a wide range of readers by using simple language, short sentences, and straightforward style. [1] The Turkish ERV New Testament has been completed, and work on the Old Testament is ongoing. [2] The translation was motivated by the recognition that approximately two-thirds of Turkey's population found the vocabulary and style of existing modern Turkish Bible translations difficult to understand. [2]
Publishing and Organizations
The Easy-to-Read Version is sponsored by Bible League International, an organization that has produced ERV translations in over 30 languages. [1] The Turkish ERV project involves collaboration between Bible League International and other partner ministries working on Bible accessibility in Turkey. [2]
