Termanu Today's Rote Bible (TWULAI)

Overview

The Susula Malalaok Hehelu Palak Ma Hehelu Beuk is a New Testament translation in the Termanu language, published in 2004 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia, LAI). [1] Termanu is a Central Malayo-Polynesian (Austronesian) language spoken on Rote Island in East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. [2] Rote Island is the southernmost island in Indonesia, located southwest of Timor. [2] The language has approximately 30,000 speakers across several dialects including Pa'da, Pa'da Kona, Korbafo, and Bokai, and is classified as vigorous (EGIDS 6a) with children still acquiring it. [3] Termanu is one of several related languages on Rote Island, alongside Bilba, Dengka, Lole, Ringgou, Dela-Oenale, and Tii. [2]
