Ukrainian Easy-to-Read Version (UKRERV)

Overview

The Ukrainian Easy-to-Read Version (Святе Письмо: Сучасною мовою, abbreviated ERV-UK) is a full Bible translation in modern Ukrainian, published by Bible League International. [1] It is part of the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) family of translations, originally developed by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), which was founded in 1973 in Arlington, Texas by Janis Brooks to produce simplified Scripture translations for new readers. [2] The ERV approach uses short sentences and limited vocabulary, targeting approximately a third-grade reading level, making it accessible to new believers and those with basic literacy. [1] The WBTC later merged with Bible League International, which continues to publish and distribute the ERV translations in over 60 languages worldwide. [2]
