The Open Urdu Bible: Devanagari Version (URDOUB)

Overview

The Open Urdu Bible: Devanagari Version is the Indian Revised Version (IRV) of the New Testament in the Urdu language, rendered in Devanagari script rather than the traditional Nastaliq (Perso-Arabic) script. [1] Published in 2017 by Bridge Connectivity Solutions Pvt. Ltd., this edition is designed for Urdu-speaking communities in India who are more familiar with Devanagari, the script used for Hindi and other major Indian languages. The IRV is part of a multi-language open-access Bible translation project covering numerous Indian languages, released under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. [1] The translation process involved initial drafting by mother-tongue translators, followed by community checking by local churches, theological and linguistic consultant review, and church network leadership verification. [2] This edition contains only the New Testament. The text is distributed digitally through the Free Bibles India platform and the YouVersion Bible app. [1]
