Wan New Testament (WANMIR)
Overview
The Wan New Testament was produced by Mission Internationale Roi de Rois (International King of Kings Mission), a Christian organization working in Côte d'Ivoire. Audio content is accessible through Faith Comes By Hearing. Scripture portions are available in the language, but no complete Bible has been reported. This translation provides the Wan-speaking community of central-western Ivory Coast with access to the New Testament in their mother tongue for the first time.
Language and People
Wan (ISO 639-3: wan), also known as Nwa, is a Mande language spoken by approximately 51,000 people in central-western Côte d'Ivoire. Dialects include Miamu and Kemu. The Wan people are a distinct ethnolinguistic community whose language is stable and used as a first language throughout the ethnic community. While French serves as the national language and Dioula functions as a trade language, the Wan language remains the primary means of community communication.
