We Northern 2010 Edition (WOBWBT)

Overview

The We Northern 2010 Edition, titled "DBƐƐDƐ DEE-," is a revised New Testament translation in the Wobe (We Northern) language of western Cote d'Ivoire, published in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] Wobe is a Western Kru language spoken by approximately 265,000 people in the Fakobly and Kouibly subprefectures of the Montagnes district. [2] The language is also known as Ouobe, Wee, or Northern Wee, and has four recognized dialects: Tao, Peome, Semien, and Kouibly. [2] Wobe is notable in linguistic scholarship for claims of having up to 14 tones, potentially the largest tonal inventory of any language in the world, though the exact number remains debated. [2] The edition includes the New Testament along with several Old Testament books, and is designated as a revision of an earlier translation. [1]
