Hanga Hundi Bible (WOSWBT)

Overview

The Hanga Hundi Bible, titled Godna Hundi, contains the New Testament and the book of Jonah in the Hanga Hundi language of Papua New Guinea, published in 1997 by Wycliffe Bible Translators as the first Scripture translation in this language. [1] Hanga Hundi (also known as Kwasengen or West Wosera) is a member of the Ndu language family, closely related to Ambulas, and is spoken by approximately 7,200 people in villages including Nungwaia, Dumek, Weko, and Warmetali in Pagwi District of East Sepik Province along the Sepik River and its tributaries. [2] [3] The language is considered stable, with all members of the ethnic community using it as their first language. [3] The translation is distributed under a Creative Commons license and is available in digital formats including a mobile app through Wycliffe Bible Translators. [4]
