Yalunka Bible (YALPBT)

Overview

The Yalunka Bible (Kisin Kiraan Kitabuna) is the complete Bible in the Yalunka language, published in 2012 by Pioneer Bible Translators. It was dedicated on February 3, 2013, and distributed to national pastors from villages across Yalunka territory — making it the first complete Bible ever produced by Pioneer Bible Translators. [1] The translation was led by Greg Pruett and his wife Rebecca, who lived among the Yalunka people in Guinea for over twelve years to complete the work. [2] Pruett, who became president of Pioneer Bible Translators in 2007, assembled a team of mother-tongue translators including Pastor Sayon to translate and verify the Scripture. [3] The Yalunka are a predominantly Muslim people group of approximately 174,000 in Guinea, and the translation was done in collaboration with the MCA mission in Faranah Prefecture. [4]
