Bible Iyansi (YNSEBL)

Overview

Bible Iyansi is the New Testament in the Yansi language (ISO 639-3: yns), a Bantu language spoken by approximately 100,000 people in Kwilu Province in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo [1]. Speakers refer to themselves as "Bayanzi" and call their language "Eyansi" or "Iyansi" [1]. A Latin-script writing system for Yansi was created in 1985 [1]. The translation was published in 2025 through a collaboration between the Seed Company and the Forum Communautaire des Traducteurs de la Bible et Alphabetisation (FCTBA), a community-based Bible translation organization in the DRC [2].
