Cajonos Zapotec New Testament (ZADWBT)

Overview

The Cajonos Zapotec New Testament was translated by Rebecca Long, an SIL International linguist who worked in the community of San Pablo Yaganiza in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca. [1] The translation was completed in 2011 and represents the first Scripture published in the Cajonos Zapotec language. The Cajonos Zapotec translation is part of the broader "Dillwen Cluster" project led by Jary and Julie Shimer, a Wycliffe initiative translating Scripture into eight related Zapotec languages of the Sierra Norte region. [2] Long also compiled a Zapotec dictionary and collected folk tales, riddles, and songs from the community as part of her language documentation work. [1]

Cajonos Zapotec (ISO 639-3: zad) is spoken by approximately 5,000 people in Southern Central Mexico. [Glottolog: cajo1238]
