Dieri New Testament
The New Testament was translated into Dieri, also called the Diyari, language of South Australia, by Johann Georg Reuther and Carl Strehlow.
Printed for the Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Synod in Australia by G. Auricht in Tanunda in 1897. It was the first New Testament in a native Australian language. It was called Testamenta Marra, Jesuni Christuni Nhantjani Jaura ninaia Kaitjimalkana wonti Dieri Jaurani. It includes a preface written by J. G, Reuther in Bethesda in November 1895. The Diyari people were taught to read and write at the Lutheran mission school.
