Alune (alp) New Testament from Indonesia (Maluku). The Population of the Alune people is 17,200 living in Central Maluku, West Seram, and Seram Barat In the villages of Kairatu, Taniwel districts, there are 22 Alune villages. Alternate names are Patasiwa Alfoeren, Sapalewa. Dialects are Kairatu, Central West Alune (Niniari-Piru-Riring-Lumoli), South Alune (Rambatu-Manussa-Rumberu), North Coastal Alune (Nikulkan-Murnaten-Wakolo), Central East Alune (Buriah-Weth-Laturake). Rambatu dialect reportedly prestigious. Kawe [kgb] may be a dialect. Related to Naka’ela [nae] and Lisabata-Nuniali [lcs]. Language Classification is Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Central-Eastern, Central Malayo-Polynesian, Central Maluku, East, Seram, Nunusaku, Three Rivers, Amalumute, Northwest Seram, Ulat Inai. The largest language use is in west Seram. The majority of the people in the interior, use the language daily. Coastal village language use is not as vigorous. The southern dialect in Kairatu village has no remaining speakers. Language development includes Literacy and Bible portions. The Writing system is in the Latin script.
