Nuevo Testamento en Achi de Cubulco (ACCIBS)

Overview

Neuenswander and Shaw entered Cubulco, in Baja Verapaz, in the 1950s, analyzed the then-unwritten language, devised a practical alphabet, and ran literacy classes alongside a medical clinic that grew into the Centro Médico Cristiano. Shaw remained in the area until September 1991. Neuenswander also published an SIL ethnological monograph on Cubulco Achi dualism in 1986. The Cubulco dialect is reckoned distinct enough from Rabinal Achi that the two are served by separate New Testaments.
