Angal Heneg New Testament (AKHBSP)

Overview

The Angal Heneng New Testament, titled Ngaoron Angal Bib Hobao Sao: Ngo Wi O, was published in 1978 by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea. It is the first Scripture publication in the Angal Heneng language. [1] The translation was carried out by Vic and Elsie Schlatter, working under the Tiliba Christian Church, and was accompanied by a primer for literacy training. [2] Angal Heneng, also known as Mendi, is a Trans-New Guinea language spoken in the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, with approximately 40,000 speakers. [3] The Mendi people are one of the major groups of the Southern Highlands, with a culture centered on agriculture and ceremonial exchange.
