Alangan 1989 Edition (ALJOMF)
Overview
The Alangan New Testament was published in 1989 by OMF International, with Bible portions available from 1962 through 1981. [1] The Alangan are one of the eight Mangyan tribal groups inhabiting the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. They live in north-central Mindoro, in the municipalities of Naujan, Baco, San Teodoro, and Victoria in Oriental Mindoro, and in Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro. [1] OMF missionaries began work among the Mangyan tribes of Mindoro in the 1950s, reducing tribal languages to writing, teaching literacy, and then translating Scripture. [2]
