Denya New Testament (ANVWBT)

Overview

The Denya New Testament (titled Ŋwɛ menomenyɛɛ́ mekɛ́) was published in 2010, representing the first complete New Testament translation into the Denya language. [1] The translation was produced under the auspices of Wycliffe Bible Translators and distributed in partnership with the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL), the national Bible translation body formed in 1987 that works in cooperation with the Wycliffe Global Alliance. [2] Bible portions in Denya had been available as early as 1998–2000, predating the completed New Testament. [3] Linguistic work on Denya phonology and orthography by Tanyi Eyong Mbuagbaw, published through SIL and CABTAL, contributed to standardizing the written form of the language. [4]

Denya (ISO 639-3: anv) is spoken by approximately 11,200 people in Southwestern Cameroon, Enlarged Area. [Glottolog: deny1238]
