Ampeeli-Wojokeso New Testament (APZWBT)

Overview

The New Testament and Genesis in the Safeyoka (Ampeeli-Wojokeso) language of Papua New Guinea, published in 1988 under the vernacular title Mpohwoe Hungkuno Songofoho. [1] Safeyoka, also known as Ampale, Ampeeli, Ambari, or Wojokeso, is an Angan language spoken by approximately 2,390–5,100 people in Morobe Province, in the Kaiapit, Lae-Wamba, and Menyamya districts; earlier Bible portions in the language date to 1971–1977. [2] The published translation draws on Dorothy West's sentence and discourse analysis (1973) and Idi West's phonological data (1992), work that sits alongside Phyllis M. Healey's studies of the Angan languages (1981). The 1988 translation was published by WHBL (World Home Bible League), South Holland, Illinois, with copyright held by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc.
