Belarusan New Testament and Proverbs (BELJFC)

Overview

This edition, published by the Bible Society of the Republic of Belarus, contains a Belarusian Bible translation associated with the John the Forerunner Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith of Minsk City. The copyright date of 2016 marks the beginning of a translation project led by evangelical pastor Antoni Bokun, who began translating the Bible into Belarusian directly from the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic texts in 2011. [1] Bokun's complete Bible was finalized in 2023 after twelve years of work, making it the third full Bible translation in the Belarusian language. [1] Despite the title suggesting only the New Testament and Proverbs, this digital edition contains all 66 books. The YouVersion listing also hosts a separate edition of the Bible translated by Vasil Syargeevich Syomukha, a Belarusian slavist who completed a translation from the Old Church Slavonic in 2000 with the assistance of Metropolitan Nickolaj of the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. [2] The history of Belarusian Bible translation extends back to Francysk Skaryna, who printed the first Belarusian-language biblical text (the Psalter) in Prague in 1517. [2]
