Berik 1993 New Testament (BKLLAI)

Overview

The Berik New Testament (1993) is the first translation of the New Testament into the Berik language, published by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia). [1] Berik (also known as Sewan) is a Papuan language spoken in four village groups along the Tor River in Sarmi Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia. [2] The translation was produced with the involvement of SIL International (Summer Institute of Linguistics), whose linguists carried out foundational linguistic documentation of Berik beginning in the 1970s, including Peter Westrum's preliminary phonology (1975) and grammatical sketch (1980, revised 1988). [2]
