Tuwuli 2008 Edition (BOVWBT)

Overview

The Tuwuli New Testament (Baguma Apam Vɔḛ a Tuwuli), published in 2008 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc., provides Scripture in the Tuwuli (Bowili, Bowiri) language of Ghana. [1] Tuwuli belongs to the Ghana–Togo Mountain language group of the Kwa family and is spoken in the Volta Region, with communities concentrated around the Hohoe–Jasikan road. [2] The translation was facilitated through the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT), Wycliffe’s primary partner for Bible translation into Ghanaian languages since 1962. [3] GILLBT initiated a multiple-language project in the Guan District in 1998 covering Tuwuli alongside related languages such as Selee, Siwu, and Sekpele. [4] The Tuwuli Language Project Committee, working under GILLBT supervision, developed the orthography used in the translation. [3]
