Bauzi New Testament (BVZWBT)

Overview

The Bauzi New Testament was published in 2008 by Yayasan Sumber Sejahtera, the Indonesian affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators. The translation was the work of David and Joyce Briley, American missionaries and linguists with SIL who first surveyed the Bauzi region in 1984-1985 and settled among the Bauzi people near Bira lake in the lower Mamberamo River area of Papua. [1][2] David Briley published a phonological description of Bauzi as early as 1976, and continued linguistic and translation work among the Bauzi over several decades. [3] The Bauzi are one of 14 ethnic groups classified by SIL as among the most isolated in the world. [1]
