The Borna New Testament (BWOWFW)
Overview
The Borna New Testament is a 2020 translation of the New Testament into the Borna language, also known as Shinasha or Boro, an Omotic language of western Ethiopia. The translation was produced through the work of The Word for the World Bible Translators, an organization founded in South Africa in 1981 that focuses on empowering national translators to translate Scripture into their own languages. [1] The Borna-speaking Shinasha people live primarily in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region of Ethiopia, in the Dangur, Bullen, Dibate, and Wenbera districts north of the Blue Nile. [2] Population estimates for the Shinasha/Boro community vary widely across sources, ranging from 38,000 to 93,000 people. [2][3]
