Buhutu Bible (BXHWBT)
Overview
Mark, Acts, and selected excerpts of the Old Testament in the Buhutu language of Papua New Guinea, published by Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2015. Buhutu is a Western Oceanic, Austronesian language spoken by approximately 1,400 people in Milne Bay Province, PNG, with speakers concentrated in the Sagarai River Valley between Mullins Harbour on the south coast and the Pima mountains to the north. [1] SIL linguist Russ Cooper worked extensively with the Buhutu language community beginning in the 1980s, training mother-tongue translators and literacy specialists. [2] The vernacular title of this translation is "Buka Tabuna Tefadi." The text is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license. [3]
