Chipaya New Testament (CAPSBB)

Overview

New Testament in Chipaya (BL:cap:Chipaya). The Chipaya village is located in Santa Ana de Chipaya in the state of Oruro, Bolivia, on the shores of the Salar de Coipasa. The translation project was carried out with two indigenous translators, under the supervision of The Native Language Council, and took two years. It has appeared in two editions, the first copyrighted in 1978 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. and the second in 2009. Ronald D. Olson of SIL conducted phonological and grammatical fieldwork on the Chipaya variety spoken at Santa Ana de Chipaya, including a comparative paper linking Chipaya with the Mayan languages (Algunas relaciones del chipaya de Bolivia con las lenguas mayenses).
