Ozumacín Chinantec New Testament (CHZWBT)
Overview
New Testament and Psalms in Ozumacín Chinantec, published in 2003 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. The translation was produced by James and Nadine Rupp, SIL linguists who began fieldwork among the Ozumacín Chinantec community in 1984. [3] The Rupps also compiled a bilingual Chinantec dictionary and published folklore texts with phonemic transcriptions alongside their translation work. [5] Ozumacín Chinantec is spoken in the towns of San Pedro Ozumacín, Ayotzintepec, and Santiago Progreso in northern Oaxaca, Mexico, with approximately 3,140 speakers. [3] The Chinantecan languages form a branch of the Oto-Manguean family spoken in the Chinantla region of northern Oaxaca. [1][2]
