Chung (also known as Cung or Chungmboko, ISO 639-3: cnq) is a Bantu language spoken by approximately 2,600 people in Cameroon. Despite the small speaker population, the Chung language community has been the focus of sustained Bible translation efforts through SIL International. Bible portions were produced between 2014 and 2019, and the New Testament was completed and published between 2021 and 2022, representing a major milestone for this small language group. A YouVersion digital edition of the Chung New Testament is available online, along with a dedicated Bible app for Android through the Internet Publishing Service. The audio recording produced by SIL International makes the New Testament accessible to community members regardless of literacy level. The Gospel of Luke has also been released as a video. Bible translation in Cameroon has been significantly advanced through the work of SIL and the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL), and the Chung New Testament represents one of the fruits of this decades-long engagement with Cameroon's many minority language communities.
