El Nayar Presidio De Los Reyes Cora New Testament (CRNWBT)

Overview

The El Nayar Presidio De Los Reyes Cora New Testament is a translation of the New Testament into the Presidio de los Reyes variety of the Cora language, published in 2008 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1]. The Cora people, who call themselves the Naayeri, are an indigenous group of approximately 35,000 people residing in the Sierra del Nayar mountains of Nayarit state in western Mexico [2]. Cora belongs to the Uto-Aztecan language family and is closely related to the Huichol language, together forming the Coracholan subgroup [3]. The Presidio de los Reyes dialect, also known as Cora Presideno or Muxateena, is one of several Cora varieties and is spoken in the community of Presidio de los Reyes in the municipality of Ruiz, Nayarit [3]. SIL Mexico records earlier Cora scripture work as well, including a 1999 New Testament for the El Nayar (Jesus Maria) variety, while the Presidio de los Reyes edition followed in 2008 [4]. The translation is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license and has been distributed in digital formats including ePub, PDF, and mobile apps [1].
