Tepeuxila Cuicatec New Testament (CUXCFB)
Overview
The Tepeuxila Cuicatec New Testament is a translation of the New Testament into the Tepeuxila dialect of the Cuicatec language, first published in 1974 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1]. Cuicatec is an Oto-Manguean language of the Mixtecan branch, and the Tepeuxila variety is one of two principal Cuicatec dialects, the other being Teutila Cuicatec [2]. The Tepeuxila dialect, also known by alternate names including Cuicateco del Centro, is spoken in the municipio de Tepeuxila in the Cuicatlan District of Oaxaca, Mexico, with the Papalo and Tepeuxila sub-varieties [3]. Joshua Project records indicate that earlier New Testament portions were translated between 1951 and 1966, with the complete New Testament following in the 1974 publication through the Liga Biblica (LLB/LBMH) [4][5]. The printed text is a diglot, presenting Cuicatec alongside Spanish, and an electronic edition was released in 2009. The Tepeuxila Cuicatec people are approximately 12,000 in number and are considered significantly reached, with evangelicals comprising more than 10% of the population [4]. The translation is distributed digitally through platforms including YouVersion, Scripture Earth, and mobile Bible apps [3].
