The New Testament in Daasanach (DSHBTL)

Overview

The New Testament in Daasanach was translated by Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Daasanach language project began in 1983, and after over thirty years of work, the Daasanach New Testament was dedicated on 20 September 2014 in a ceremony at Ileret in Marsabit County, Kenya. [1] The Daasanach are an East Cushitic pastoralist people who live around the northern shores of Lake Turkana, spanning Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, with Scripture portions in the language first appearing between 2000 and 2006. [2] Jim Ness and Susan Ness of BTL and Wycliffe Bible Translators were involved in Daasanach language work including the production of literacy materials and Scripture translation. [3]
