Ekajuk New Testament (EKANBT)

Overview

The Ekajuk New Testament was published in 2012 as a joint project of the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT) and Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Ekajuk people live in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. Early linguistic groundwork for the language was laid by SIL linguists Renate and Werner Kleiner, who produced a grammatical description of Ekajuk in 1968. [1] A 2013 survey of mother-tongue Scripture use found that adoption of the Ekajuk New Testament was fair in villages such as Winnimba, Nwang, and Egbung, though limited literacy in Ekajuk remained a barrier. [2] Old Testament translation checking in Ekajuk is being carried out by Uche Aaron, a retired NBTT translation consultant working with the Seed Company. [3]
