English Majority Text 2014 (ENGEMT)

Overview

The English Majority Text Version is a modern English New Testament translation by Dr. Paul W. Esposito. It is based on the Byzantine/Majority Greek text rather than the Alexandrian-based Nestle-Aland or United Bible Societies critical editions, drawing on the Byzantine Majority manuscripts that were used by the first Protestant Reformers. Esposito regards these manuscripts as the original and most faithful witnesses to the Christian scriptures, free from what he views as the projections of modern translators shaped by twenty-first-century concerns. The work presents itself as a modernization of the textual tradition behind earlier English Bibles such as the Geneva Bible and the King James Version.
