New English Translation (NET) (ENGNET)

Overview

The New English Translation (NET) is a completely new English translation of the Bible, begun in 1995 and produced by Biblical Studies Press, L.L.C. More than 25 scholars—experts in the original biblical languages—worked directly from the best currently available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. It is distinguished by 60,932 translators' notes documenting the translators' decisions, the textual basis, and the rationale for key renderings, including major interpretive options and alternative translations—a level of documentation described as a first for a Bible translation. The NET is distributed free online under an open copyright model. Copyright ©1996-2006 by Biblical Studies Press.
