Louis Claude Fillion Bible (FRALCF)

Overview

Louis-Claude Fillion (1843-1927 in Issy, France) was a Sulpician priest, French exegete, and professor of Scripture and Hebrew. Ordained a priest in 1867 and admitted to the Compagnie de Saint-Sulpice, he was professor of Holy Scripture and Hebrew at the major seminary of Reims from 1871 to 1874, and at the major seminary of Lyon from 1874 to 1893. In October 1893, he was appointed to the Catholic Institute of Paris, where he occupied the chair of exegesis. His Sainte Bible (commentée d'après la Vulgate) was published in eight volumes between 1888 and 1904, presenting a French translation of the Vulgate accompanied by extensive notes drawing on the Hebrew and Greek originals.
