San Andres Islander Creole New Testament (ICRWBT)

Overview

The New Testament in San Andres Islander Creole, titled Di Nyuu Testiment iina San Andres Ailanda Kriol, was translated by Ron and Lois Metzger. They worked with the native population that spoke an English-based creole to create a written form of the language. They spent five years there before returning to the U.S., though the translation project remained unfinished; they were able to connect with expat Creole speakers in Dallas and continue the translation process. Lois would not see the completion of the New Testament project, as she died of lung cancer in 2008, seven years before the New Testament was published in 2015 by Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Sociedad Bíblica Colombiana. The translation serves the Raizal people of the San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina archipelago, whose English-based creole Glottolog records as a threatened language.
