Easy to Read Kannada Version (KANERV)
Overview
The Easy to Read Kannada Version is a complete Bible translation in the Kannada language, published by Bible League International in 1997. It is part of the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) series, originally developed by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), which was established in 1973 in Arlington, Texas. [1] The ERV translation philosophy employs dynamic equivalence, aiming to express the full meaning of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts in clear, accessible contemporary language. [2] The Kannada ERV makes the scriptures available to Kannada-speaking communities across southern India in an approachable style intended for broad readership, including those less familiar with biblical literature. The digital text is dated 1997, while the historic PDF held by the Digital Bible Society is dated 2006.
