Kerebe New Testament (KEDBST)

Overview

The Kerebe (Kerewe) New Testament, Omulago Muhya (Kikahindurwa mu Kikerewe), was translated by the French-Canadian White Fathers priest Almas Simard (1907–1954) together with several native Kerewe speakers. It received its imprimatur on 4 October 1945 and was published in 1946 at the White Fathers Mission Press in Bukerewe. It followed earlier Kerewe Scripture portions, including Bible stories (1899) and liturgical Gospels (1921, 1937). The text was later digitised by MissionAssist from a copy held in the British and Foreign Bible Society archives at Cambridge, donated by the Bible Society of Tanzania.
