The Bible in Kogi-Cogui (KOGWBT)

Overview

The Bible in Kogi-Cogui is a New Testament translation into Kogi (also known as Cogui, Kagaba, or Kaggaba), a Chibchan language of the Arwako branch spoken by approximately 9,900 to 21,000 people in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains of northern Colombia [1][2]. The Kogi are described as the only unconquered Andean civilization, maintaining traditional practices and spiritual leadership through community leaders called "Mamas" [2][3]. The majority of Kogi speakers are monolingual in their language [1]. The New Testament, titled "Jatetshi muldigaba" in Kogi, was translated by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. and completed between 2014 and 2015 [4][5]. The translation is available digitally through YouVersion, Faith Comes By Hearing, and mobile apps with audio and text highlighting features [4].
