Kapingamarangi Bible (KPGKPT)

Overview

The Kapingamarangi Bible was completed and dedicated in December 2014 after 17 years of translation work by a committee of 23 translators, 17 of whom saw the project through to completion. [1] The Kapingamarangi people first requested Bible translation help in 1982. [1] Translation began in February 1997 under the leadership of Nico and Pam Daams from Isles of the Sea Bible Translation. [1] The New Testament was dedicated in November 2000, followed by a Shorter Old Testament (40% of the OT) in 2004; the team then completed the remaining OT books and revised the NT. [1] Kapingamarangi is one of only two Polynesian languages spoken in Micronesia. [1]
