Kakabai Bible portions (KQFWBT)
Overview
The Kakabai Bible portions, titled Buk Baibel long Kakabai (also known as Giu visuvisuna), were first published in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators and contain selected Scripture portions including the Gospel of Mark in the Kakabai language [1][2]. Kakabai (ISO 639-3: kqf) is an Austronesian language of the Western Oceanic branch spoken by approximately 900 people in mainland Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea [3]. A linguistic assessment conducted by SIL International found that regular sound changes and alternate lexical items differentiate the Kakabai varieties spoken in each village, with the Takwatakwai variety identified as the most widely accepted standard for language development [4]. The translation is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license [1].
