Koorete Bible Society Version (KQYBSE)
Overview
The Koorete Bible Society Version is the first translation of the New Testament into the Koorete language, published in 2011 by the Bible Society of Ethiopia. [1] Koorete is an East Ometo language spoken in the Amaro special woreda of southern Ethiopia, east of Lakes Abaya and Chamo. [2] The translation uses the Latin script and covers all 27 books of the New Testament. Scripture portions including the Gospel of John and audio recordings of the New Testament have been made available through digital platforms. [3]

Koorete (ISO 639-3: kqy) is spoken by approximately 157,000 people in Southwestern Ethiopia. [Glottolog: koor1239]
The Koore (also known as Koorete, Koore, or Koyra) are an ethnic group inhabiting the Amaro special woreda in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. [2] Koorete belongs to the East Ometo sub-family of the Omotic language branch and is the only Ometo language spoken east of Lake Abaya. [2]
