The Gospel of Luke in Kuvi (KXVLUK)

Overview

The Gospel of Luke in Kuvi, titled Luka Suvarta, was the first portion of the Bible published in Kuvi, a Dravidian language of the Kond (Khond) people of the Eastern Ghauts in present-day Odisha, India. It was the work of the Rev. F. V. P. Schulze, a missionary of the Schleswig-Holstein Mission who laboured among the Telugus and the Konds for over twenty-five years and who also produced a Kuvi grammar, some Bible stories in the Telugu character, and an English study, The Religion of the Kuvi-Konds: their Customs and Folklore. The Madras Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society published the book in 1916, printing it at the S.P.C.K. Press in Vepery, Madras; the edition contains the Gospel of Luke except for chapter 14. It was digitised in 2021 with the help of MissionAssist from an original copy held at the Bible Society archives in Cambridge, England.
