Lika Nouvelle orthographe (LIKWBT)
Overview
The Lika Nouvelle orthographe is a full Bible translation in the Lika language, a Bantu language of uncertain affiliation sometimes classified within the Boan group, spoken in northern Democratic Republic of the Congo [1]. The translation was published in 2019 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, and the "Nouvelle orthographe" designation indicates it uses an updated orthographic system for the language [2]. The dedication of the newly published New Testament was delayed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, with the community waiting to hold the celebration until conditions improved [3]. The translation work was carried out in partnership with local churches and Bible translation organizations active in the DR Congo, a country with over 200 spoken languages, the majority of which still lack a complete Bible [4].
