Lobi 1984 Edition (LOBBSB)
Overview
The Lobi 1984 Edition is a New Testament translation in the Lobi language, published by the Bible Society of Burkina Faso. The Lobi are a Gur-speaking people who originated in present-day Ghana and migrated into southwestern Burkina Faso beginning around 1770, later spreading into Cote d'Ivoire. [1] Bible portions in Lobi were first produced as early as 1940, with the New Testament completed between 1965 and 1985. [2] A complete Bible has not yet been translated. [2] The Lobi remain predominantly adherents of traditional religion (approximately 94 percent), with Christianity representing a small minority. [2] WEC International (Worldwide Evangelization for Christ) is among the organizations that have worked among Lobi-related peoples in the region. [3]
