Overview

The Open Malayalam Bible is the Indian Revised Version (IRV) in Malayalam, produced by Bridge Connectivity Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and released under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 4.0 license, making it a freely redistributable and modifiable Bible translation. [1] It is distributed through Free Bibles India. Malayalam is a Dravidian language and the official language of the Indian state of Kerala, where it is spoken by approximately 37 million people. Malayalam Bible translation has a long history — the earliest translation was initiated in 1807 by Kayamkulam Philippos Ramban and published in 1811, known as the Ramban Bible. [2] The Open Malayalam Bible is a modern revision building on this tradition.
