Central Mazahua Bible (MAZTBL)

Overview

The Central Mazahua Bible, titled Nu o̱ jña mizhocjimi nu mama ja ga cja e Jesucristo, is a New Testament translation in the Central Mazahua language of Mexico. The first edition was published in 1970 by La Liga Bíblica, followed by a second edition in 2007 completed by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc., and an electronic re-issue in 2009 [1]. According to its preface, the translation was made from the Textus Receptus and reviewed with native Mazahua speakers. Central Mazahua is an Oto-Manguean language spoken by approximately 147,000 people in central Mexico, primarily in the northwestern part of the State of Mexico and extending into parts of Michoacan and Queretaro. [2] The Mazahua are the largest indigenous group in the State of Mexico, concentrated in the municipalities of San Felipe del Progreso, San Jose del Rincon, Villa Victoria, and Villa de Allende.
