Mangseng New Testament (MBHTBL)

Overview

The Mangseng New Testament, titled "God Ile Riong Kinnga Ponganga nge Mangsengre Okei," was published in 1999 by Wycliffe Bible Translators [1][2]. The Mangseng people number approximately 6,200 and inhabit a coastal area spanning parts of East New Britain and West New Britain provinces in Papua New Guinea, from Montagu Harbor on the south coast to Fulleborn Harbor in the west, and along the north coast south of Commodore Bay [3]. Mangseng (also known as Mangsing, Masegi, or Maseki) is an Austronesian language of New Britain [4]. Bible portions in Mangseng were first completed in 1991, with the full New Testament following in 1999 [3]. The translation is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license and is available in print, digital, and audio formats [2]. Papua New Guinea is the most linguistically diverse nation in the world, with more than 800 languages, making translation efforts such as this one essential for providing Scripture access to smaller language communities [5].
