The Maiwala scripture resource produced by the Maiwala Bible Translation project makes God's Word available to the approximately 5,000 Maiwala speakers of eastern Papua New Guinea. [1] Papua New Guinea has one of the most complex scripture translation situations in the world, with hundreds of distinct languages requiring individual translation projects; organizations such as the Papua New Guinea Bible Translation Association and SIL Papua New Guinea coordinate and support these efforts across the country. [2] The Maiwala Bible Translation project, working, makes scripture accessible through both text and audio, reaching a community that has an estimated high rate of Christian affiliation.
