Mün Chin Common Language Version (Ng'thu K"Thai)' (MWQBSM)

Overview

The Mun Chin Common Language Version is a New Testament translation in the Mun Chin language (also known as Cho or K'cho), published by the Bible Society of Myanmar. The Cho Chin people live in Mindat and Kanpetlet Townships of southern Chin State, Myanmar. [1] The translation was led by Rev. Thang Ngai Om, who dedicated more than 25 years of his life to completing the Cho Bible. Born and raised in a Buddhist family, Thang Ngai Om converted to Christianity, studied theology, became a pastor, and then devoted himself to Bible translation. [2] For more than half a century, the Cho Chin people had been waiting for Scripture in their language. When the complete Cho Bible was finished in May 2019, it was celebrated with a jubilant ceremony, and the day after the launch, Cho Chin people and the Bible Society gave thanks by hiking to the peak of Mount Victoria, the highest mountain in Chin State. [2] The New Testament portion (this edition, MWQBSM) was published earlier in 2009.

Translation History

A revised and expanded edition, the "Cho Bible Common Language 2016" (CBC), was subsequently published, and the complete Cho Bible (Old and New Testaments) was completed and launched in May 2019.
