Bible Mahou Portions (MXXWBT)

Overview

The Bible Mahou Portions contain selected Scripture portions translated into Mahou, a Mande language spoken in northwestern Cote d'Ivoire. [1] The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. and covers four books of the Bible. The Mahou people, also known as the Mau or Mauka, are part of the broader Mande ethnic group found in the Denguele region of Cote d'Ivoire, and are closely related to the Malinke people. [2]

Mahou belongs to the Mande branch of the Niger-Congo language family and is spoken primarily in the Denguele region of northwestern Cote d'Ivoire. [1] The language is considered stable, used as a first language by all members of the ethnic community. [2] The Mahou are part of the Mandingue cultural group, alongside the Malinke, Bambara, and Dioula peoples, who historically occupied the northwestern regions of Cote d'Ivoire. [2]
