Mbay 2004 Edition (MYBABT)

Overview

The Mbay 2004 Edition is a New Testament in the Mbay language (also called Sara Mbay), spoken by the Mbay people of southern Chad. The complete Mbai Bible was originally published in 1980 by Alliance Biblique Universelle (United Bible Societies), making it one of the earlier complete Bible translations in a Sara language of Chad. [1] This 2004 edition represents a subsequent publication of the New Testament. YouVersion hosts Mbay Scripture under the Bible Society of Chad, including the "Bible Mbaï 1980" (MB80) edition and a separate edition titled "Maktub Ta Kumkajir." The Mbay are one of the major Sara ethnic groups, and the language belongs to the Bongo–Bagirmi subgroup within the Central Sudanic branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family. [2]

The Mbay people live primarily in the Mandoul region of southern Chad, in the Barh Sara department around the town of Moissala. [2] The language has several dialects, including Bedjou, Kan (Mbay-Kan), Ngoka (Mbang), Bedegue, Mougo, and Bbate. [1] Mbay belongs to the Western Sara dialect group within the Central Sudanic branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family. [2]
